A Fire TV Stick turns any TV with an HDMI port into an IPTV-ready screen. Its Wi-Fi connection is the part to look after: a stick tucked behind the TV sometimes has poor reception.

Before you start

  • Plug the stick into an HDMI port and into its mains adapter (avoid powering it from the TV’s USB port, which is often not enough).
  • If Wi-Fi reception is weak, use the supplied HDMI extender to move the stick away from the TV, or a compatible Ethernet adapter.
  • Install updates: Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for updates.

Install a player from the Appstore

From the home screen, open search and type “IPTV”. Choose a player from the Amazon Appstore that supports your login format and has been updated recently, then select Download.

If the player you want is not available in your region’s Appstore, pick another one rather than installing an app of unknown origin.

Set up your subscription

  1. Open the player and choose to add an account or a playlist.
  2. For the Xtream Codes format, enter the server address, username and password.
  3. For the M3U format, enter the playlist address. Typing is quicker with the Fire TV mobile app, which works as a keyboard.
  4. Confirm and wait while it loads.

Make playback smoother

  • Close apps running in the background: Settings > Applications > Manage installed applications.
  • Clear the player’s cache if navigation slows down.
  • Restart the stick once a week: Settings > My Fire TV > Restart.

If something goes wrong

Measure the speed directly on the stick with a speed-test app. If the result is low or irregular, the troubleshooting guide covers the network-side solutions.
