Setup on Smart TV
Set up IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV
Step-by-step guide to install an IPTV player on a Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) Smart TV, enter your login details and tune playback.

Samsung and LG Smart TVs do not include an IPTV player: you install one from the TV’s app store, then enter the login details you receive after ordering. Allow about fifteen minutes.
Before you start
- Connect the TV to the internet, preferably with an Ethernet cable.
- Update the TV software from the Settings menu, under Support or General depending on the model.
- Keep your login details to hand: either a username, password and server address (Xtream Codes format), or an M3U playlist address.
Both formats are explained in M3U or Xtream Codes: what is the difference?.
Choose a player in the TV’s store
Open the app store: Apps on Samsung, LG Content Store on LG. Search for “IPTV” and choose a player that:
- accepts your login format (Xtream Codes or M3U);
- shows the programme guide (EPG);
- has been updated recently and has recent reviews.
Some players require a paid activation from their publisher, linked to the TV’s MAC address. Any such cost is separate from your subscription: read the app’s store page before installing it.
Enter your login details
Depending on the player, setup happens on the TV itself or on the publisher’s web page, where you enter the MAC address shown by the app.
- Xtream Codes format: enter the server address, username and password exactly as received, respecting capital letters.
- M3U format: paste the full playlist address, with no space at the start or end.
Then restart the app. The playlist can take one or two minutes to load the first time.
Tune playback
- In the player settings, choose the hardware decoder when offered: it puts less load on the TV.
- If the picture stutters, raise the buffer setting by one step.
- Turn off the TV’s “dynamic” picture mode or motion smoothing if movement looks artificial.
If it does not work
First check the TV’s date and time, then your login details. If the playlist loads but the picture drops, follow the troubleshooting guide. For a question about a specific model, message us from the contact page with the TV’s model number.
